General Rules
- You need to make an appointment in advance to benefit from the unit's services. Contact writingandculture@kent.edu.tr to make an appointment
- A session can last a maximum of 40 minutes.
- Users can schedule a maximum of three meetings with the same advisor each semester.
- Users who arrive more than five minutes late for a session may have their appointments canceled.
- Users who repeatedly miss their appointments may lose their right to reapply.
Ethical use of the Center
- Center users must bring some written documents prepared in advance to participate in the sessions. Advisors will only provide assistance if there is already a completed written work (e.g. a draft or preliminary paper).
- Center advisors will not directly edit or correct the writing submitted by the user. Their job is to help students and faculty improve their writing skills.
- Center users may only share their own work with advisors. If it is revealed that the user did not write the text themselves, Center advisors will terminate the session.
- Center advisors will not accept written materials generated by artificial intelligence. Avoid using AI-writing programs.
- Written work submitted by the Center will not be translated, summarized or paraphrased by Center advisors.
- Center users will not ask advisors to find research materials.
- Center advisors will not provide feedback on the quality of the written assignment or the grades given by other faculty members.
- All conversations between users and the Center advisor will be kept confidential and will not be shared with third parties without the written permission of the users.
- The University's general policies on academic honesty also apply to the Writing Center.
