The Professional Development Unit of Istanbul Kent University School of Foreign Languages aims to support instructors in delivering courses more efficiently and effectively, thus improving the quality of teaching, through the implementation of a blended learning strategy in teacher education.
By integrating a socio-cultural framework to develop a collaborative learning community, instructors of the team are encouraged and inspired to adopt a growth mindset that encourages continuous improvement and lifelong learning. To achieve this goal, training sessions covering face-to-face, synchronous and asynchronous formats are organized to provide continuous updates on best practices. In addition, instructors are encouraged to act as facilitators by disseminating the knowledge and experiences they gain during the training sessions they attend. In all these steps, instructors are provided with equal opportunities and support to promote sustainable long-term progress.
