Istanbul Kent University Turkish Proficiency Exam is the exit exam of the Turkish Preparatory Program. TYS is applied to students who meet the exam entry requirements before the start of the academic year, at the end of the fall semester, at the end of the spring semester and at the end of the summer term. This exam consists of "reading", "listening", "writing" and "speaking" sections. It is held in two different sessions as "written" and "oral". The written exam, which consists of reading, listening and writing sections, lasts two and a half hours.
Students are asked to be in the designated waiting rooms 30 minutes before their assigned appointment time. Appointment times cannot be changed after the lists are announced. In case of missing a session, exams cannot be made up, even with a medical report or similar excuse.
Students are required to have their school ID with them on exam days, along with another official ID with a current photo. If the pictures are not recognized, the officer may ask for a second official ID.
Turkish Proficiency Exam (TYS) Eligibility
Before the Turkish Proficiency Exam, which is administered at the beginning of the academic year, newly registered students are given the SBS on their registration day. Students who can get enough points from the SBS are contacted and informed that they are eligible to take the Turkish Proficiency Exam and when they will take the exam. At this stage, the student may choose to study in the Turkish Preparatory Program. If they make this choice, the student waives their right to take the Turkish Proficiency Exam. Newly registered students who cannot get enough points are placed in one of the appropriate levels in the Turkish Preparatory Program according to their SBS results.
Students who study in the Turkish Preparatory Program in the same academic year and who have successfully completed the last level (B2, Upper Level) and who have attended classes/have not failed due to absenteeism are eligible to take the TYT exams.
Grading
Students are expected to receive a total of at least 60 points in order to be considered successful in the Turkish Proficiency Exam. Total scores are announced as A, B, C and F letter grades. The range of 100-85 corresponds to an A letter grade, the range of 84-70 corresponds to a B letter grade, and the range of 69-60 corresponds to a C letter grade. Students who receive a score below 60 points are given an F letter grade.
Exam results are announced by sending a message to the students’ institutional e-mail addresses with the extension @ogr.kent.edu.tr.
Objection to Exam
Students have the right to object to their exam results within 5 (five) working days after the exam results are announced. Those who wish to object must sign the objection form on the Istanbul Kent University corporate website and submit it to the department secretary or send a scanned copy or photo to ydyo@kent.edu.tr .Objection results are finalized within two days and the results are announced by sending a message to the students' school e-mail addresses.
